Zynga announced, they will close FarmVille on Facebook at the end of 2020. There are 2 reasons why Zynga decided to close FarmVille. One of them is because Adobe has stopped updating and distributing their Flash Player software. Not only that, in June 2020, Facebook announced that they would stop supporting Flash games as of December 31, 2020.

FarmVille players will still be able to purchase in-game items until November 17, 2020. After that, the in-game payment system will be shut down. While the FarmVille game will still be able to be played until December 31, 2020.

“We are aware that there have been many people playing our game since it was launched. They help us to build a community of players at the global level, “said Zynga, as quoted by Business Insider. “For that, we say thank you.”

FarmVille was launched in 2009. In less than 2 months, the game successfully gained more than 10 million daily active players. At its peak, about 30 million people were playing FarmVille every day. Zynga claims, until 2010, Farmville managed to become the game with the most daily users on Facebook.

Zynga also launched a sequel to Farmville for mobile devices. Unfortunately, the game never gained the popularity of its predecessors. Even so, Zynga did not give up. They said, FarmVille 3 will be launched for mobile devices globally in the near future.

Apart from FarmVille, Zynga is also known as the creator of several other games such as Words with Friends, Candy Crush, and Empire & Allies. In Q1 2020, Zynga reported that their revenue had increased by 52%, to US $ 404 million. Pandemic has become one of the factors driving Zynga’s income growth.

“Now is a unique time,” Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau told GamseBeat. “People are now using games to play and stay connected with their friends. Today, the impact of our games on society is very pronounced. The input from the fans is also very good. ”

Unfortunately, Zynga still suffered a loss because they had to pay for Small Giant Games and Gram Games. Zynga decided to acquire the 2 companies in 2018. It’s just that, until now, they still have to pay performance bonuses for the 2 divisions because their games have proven popular.
